SpeediSleeve Warning
SpeediSleeve Warning
hey-Hey!!!,
I put SpeediSleeves on the hub seal journals on my 3.07 rebuild. Just experienced a leaking seal and wondered 'WHY?'. Seems I did not drive the sleeve on far enough and the inner bearing rode on the sleeve( spaced it out ). A little bit of time on it the bearing flattened the sleeve up against the hub's shoulder( stopped about 1mm short on the sleeve install), and the bearings got loose enough the seal leaked. It also wore off a bit ov the retaining nut for which I had a spare from the donor axle. That'll teach me not to check stuff like that I'll tell y'all...fortunately there seems to be no other damage. Ground off the offending sleeve bit with a dremel and cut-off wheel and re-installed.
D-Oh!!!!!!!
cheers,
Douglas
