Someone fill me in or link me to a breakdown of the various turbos?
Hey folks,
I have a 91.5 W250...I hear she's got the lagmaster turbo setup.
I'm wondering if there's a site that breaks down which turbos came on which trucks and which ones are good for what goals, etc...
I can see myself wanting some more performance in the future, but would like to know, say, if it'd be better to get a different turbo or to just replace the exhaust housing.
Anyway...thanks!

Your 91.5 most likely has a H1C with a 21cm2 turbine housing housing. Very laggy. Going to a smaller turbine housing like an 18 or 16 would be a quick upgrade that won't get the EGT's too hot and it'll spool quicker. Running a 12cm2 housing on a H1C will spool very fast, but will get hot quick because it doesn't push enough air. If you can find the 14cm2 turbine housing (they didn't come on Dodges, I forgot what they came from) they spool much quicker, but are large enough that you won't reach piston-melting exhaust gas temperatures the second you put your foot into it.
The first real upgrade I did when I had my ol '92 (RIP) was put a stock 2nd gen HX35 turbo with a 14cm2 turbine housing (they came with 12cm2 stock, but I had a 14 laying around). The downpipe flange was different than stock, but I made a new piece to adapt it. The rest of it bolts up. Made a huge difference in the truck's power and never ran hot EGT's. Eventually the truck got injectors, fuel pin, pump tweaks, and the turbo was upgraded further.
