1993 D250 with 89K, do you believe this was a clunker car? I talked the dealer out of filing it as a clunker. This was a traded in on a new Saturn Vue, he don't know what he is missing.
Specs:
  1. 1993 D-250 1 owner
  2. 5-spd
  3. 3.54 D-70 limited slip
  4. Power everything

After running the rack and some power service she got 24.3 mpg on the ride home!
Not bad for a "clunker"

Wow what a nice truck!! Something you don't see everyday is a clubcab D250 5spd.

I can't really tell in the picture but i'm thinking that color is not the typical "cinnamon" alot of trucks are, looks kinda lighter. I like the combo alot

I honestly can't believe someone was stupid enough to trade in a Beautiful low mileage diesel truck for the CLUNKERS program, kinda sad but it worked out good for you . That thing is clean.

I think what it needs now is get rid of the hubcaps, paint the wheels SP-186 silver and leave the beauty rings . That would look awesome. Oh and get rid of the muffler hanging down. lol

Congrats and welcome to the 1st gen forum

Brandon

I'm sure whatever dealer looked at that truck when the OO wanted to trade it in , figured it would get 10 mpg like most big trucks like that. [luagh]
and the salesman can't go back to the 90's data and look up the MPG ratings on it because they didn't have them back then on diesels

If you don't mind nebraska, what'd you have to pay for it ??

they have to make under 19 mpg to be considered a clunker. this one might have (just barely) if it's stock. but wow! i'm tempted to call all the dealers near me and tell them to call me if they get an early 90's dodge as a "clunker"

EDIT: or like brandon said. just from looking at it

The dealers don't have any way to tell Jimbo!!! the EPA doesn't give ratings on diesels, ever... if you floored it every 2 seconds i'm sure it'd get 19- but he got 24 out of it on the way home!

that was probably AFTER he bought it. running the rack? i think you're thinking of your '98 or 2-stroke detroit. first gens don't have racks unless your gf's riding shotgun

Exactly, I know in the p-pumps what running the rack is, but I also call the upper end "the rack".

Crossy-As soon as my camera batteries charge I have an update, I ditched the factory caps/rings because I was walking the swap area at the Nats and scored 4 very 70s camper special caps. I had to pony up $4800, but well worth it.

Also, straight pipe is already measured and will be in first of next week.

lastly, thanks Crossy for the timing vids at youtube! that will be my next mod.

I'm glad to be back in a first gen, I have always owned one, but when I found the 98 it was a good deal, so i picked it up and sold my 92. Call it serendipity I guess.

Mopar Nationals in Columbus,Ohio

I have been searching for a d-60 front with 3.54's and a getrag/205 combo, because I'm pretty sure this one is going to be a 4wd by thanksgiving.

I am not 100% sure but I think the dealer just commited a federal offense by selling it.

Sweet find though!

Well, I guess as long as they got 4500 out of it they can tear up the paperwork going to the feds. If they try to get fed money out of it then they are up a creak. Dealers are supposed to put a substance in the engine to sieze it and it is supposed to be scrap iron.

offense

i wouldnt think it would be an offense unless he turned it in to the gov already and then sold it..not sure how that works but i know around here the dealers have to apply for a voucher for the money from the gov..what will interest me is if the gov will check to see if the vehicle qualifies..as in mpg and other mandates or if they will just toss the money out there as they normally do without any checks and balances..great score and wish you well with it
