Shut off solenoid fix?

Hey guys, I was turning up the full power screw many months ago and then the truck ate the fuel shut off solenoid. I installed a pull cable and all was well. But now I'm am turning down the fuel again for less low end smoke and the truck doesn't even want to run, it wants to idle low and shut off, i could probably turn the full power screw another turn an it would idle fine but I want to fix that fuel shut off solenoid. My question is where exactly is that thing at on the injection pump and how do you get it out? Thanks

The fuel shutoff solenoid is at the rear of the pump on the top, right behind the AFC. You should be able to find it easily as it is the only thing on the top of the pump with wires going to it. As far as screwing the full power screw in to get the idle back up, you should be able to just adjust the idle screw up and be done with it. The idle screw is on the back side of the pump. It is what the throttle arm hits at idle, just like a carburetor. Just screw it out a little and the idle should come up for you.

Check the sticky. BC has a good writeup on how to modify it to help keep from breaking the rubber tip off.

Yep its at the back of the pump, I just fixed mine the other day after using a pull cable for over a year. I took the whole throttle linkage assembly off and ground off the top of the back Bracket where the VE pump mounts, it was just in the way so i ground it off, then i could get a 24mm wrench in there. I used a hammer and chisel to break it loos though cuz it was on pretty tight, I pulled it out and there was a big chunk missing, I just put it in my grinder and ground it down til i could see the metal, buffed the edges with some sandpaper then put it back in and it worked. I'd do the same thing as you and turn my full power screw up as well, if not, you can turn your throttle up by tightening the linkage instead of the stupid screw thats hard to get to.
