Arrow Scheid parts have shipped, ATS I'm not so happy with.....

It took Scheid a little longer to build the pump since I was picky and wanted something different, but they got it finished up and the other parts are on the way as well. ETA is next wednesday, so I'll pull the head and pump this weekend.

As for ATS, the sales guy tried to screw me!!! I told him what truck I have and he said they only make the A4000 for 03-07's. I said thats fine, it'll bolt up the same and I'll just use the 3rd gen DP to alter my first gen DP. He said ok, took all my info, cc number, and said the A4000 is on its way. After nearly 2 weeks and no shipping info or turbo I called. The guy in customer service was nice and helpful. He looked up my order and it was changed to the A3000, and they were about to ship it. I said NO i ordered the A4000. He stumbled a little and asked if I knew about the wait time. I said no, the sales guy told me it would be on its way. So he said let me transfer you back to the sales guy and he can explain everything to you. The sales guy LIED and said he thought I ordered the A3000, so he changed it. I told him I want the A4000 period, nothing else. So he said he changed the order back to A4000. Then I asked about lead time. Aparently the turbos arent even made yet and are still in the machine process, and would be 4-6 weeks maybe. I asked how many they have back ordered and when to expect mine. He had no idea other than it will be at least 4-6 weeks. Maybe even the end of next month.

Scheid, great job and good support.

ATS, this is my first dealing and I'm less than impressed. As much time as I took to research turbos for the perfect one, I may end up canceling my order and going with someone else. Not because of just the wait time, but because of lack of service and honesty. Whats the point of paying more money for a warranty 3 years/150,000 miles if you dont trust the company to honor it?

that's why I don't particularly want to ever deal with ATS again.

I called them in late spetember or early october of 09. They took my order. I waited and waited. Finally by february of 2010 I hadn't gotten my parcel (and forutnately hadn't been charged either) I called them back and reordered. It took a couple weeks to get my item (ATS solenoid plug for the he351) They charged my shipping (which was overpriced to begin with) and then ended up sending me the package COD anyway. I was NOT impressed.

Thats a very common story I've been hearing lately. I'll call every few days till it gets here, or I grow tired and cancel my order.

I called ATS a while ago to see if I could get some installation instructions or papers on the 3000/5000 twin setup so I can see what parts I'm missing/need before I install them on my truck. I told them I bought a used 2nd gen set and am putting them on my 1st gen and they said well we don't make that or anything for a 1st gen, and I said I know but i'm gonna use this 2nd gen kit and it will work so was wondering if i could get the 2nd gen instructions or email them to me, and they just said well we don't have those. You don't have instructions or a list of parts your kits come with for your own product you sell? yeah right.

I'm sure it was just the guy I talked to, I've seemed to get that a lot from most diesel shops I talk to, I always get the guy that knows nothing and and the sad thing is it hurts their business. I only deal with certain shops nowadays and most are people I kind of know or have heard good things about. I feel bad for these bigger businesses that mean well but are ruined because of one or more idiot employee.

Sounds like the sales guy I got. I loved how he tried to talk me out of it and tell me the turbo would not work on my truck becauce its for 03-07 only. With the complete lack of knoledge he had, I bet he drives a Prius!!!!

ATS is for the guys that don't know where/how to get the same parts/turbos without the ATS name and price tag.

ATS is the same as any auto parts store. They only know what they have for whatever come up on the computer. Play it dumb and tell them you have a 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen. Look up the part on the website before ordering and play into there computer-dumb thinking.

They have some good products, and the A4000 turbo is their creation alone. No other turbo maker has a 63mm compressor that will flow nearly 1,100cfm and withstand 70+psi on a regular basis. I know how to spec a turbo and did months of research into every company and turbo I could find. This turbo was the best fit for my plans, so dispite the poor service I've heard about, I went ahead and ordered it.

Who did independent testing on that turbo to confirm those numbers? Of course they're going to make their own products look good.

ATS (the company) sucks. That's what many said (or at least indirectly implied) when you mentioned in an earlier thread that you were set on their product.

That said, they (somehow) make a great product. This is why they are still in business despite their poor customer service and their shady, loophole filled warranties.

They are NOT, however the only company in the game. You keep mentioning the A4K's dominance. There are other manufacturers who make similar turbos that will handily outperform the A4K. I take it you didn't look very hard before you decided the A4K had unmatched performance. You should have checked out Bullseye. You may know them from the winning truck in the highest-payout diesel race in history which recently took place in Bradenton. Aron's truck ran mid-10's in the 1/4 (and won $25K) with a single 65mm Bullseye charger.

They also make a billet BatMoWheel 63mm charger that will outperform the A4K...for much cheaper. II also makes a 64mm that outflows the A4K.

I called the guy down in Texas, I think, that does cams for these trucks, left him a message about what I wanted to do. He called me back a couple weeks later, was on vacation, and said to talk to Colt Cams, as they can get my peak torque to come on sooner. I still have to thank him for the info.

Check with Engineered Diesel. A lot of the competitive guys like them and they have a 63mm turbo with, probably, more combinations available than ATS. I've been finding out more and more recently that ATS truly sucks.
