sagging springs
Hello everybody im new to your site, been reading it for a while ,great site,
I recently purchased my first, 1st generation 3/4 4x4 was wondering what to do about sagging front springs to level it with the back, ie; any after market springs other than buying a whole lift kit,any info would be greatly appreciated.

I went to a spring shop in langley and had the front rearched and two leaves added to each side. This made the truck level and it barely squats when I put the 1000 pound snow plow on th front.

That sag is really common.
The most popular solution is Skyjacker springs. They have 2,4 and 6" springs for the front of first gens with Cummins. They ride nice. I think a 2" front with no rear mods will level out the truck. 2 and 4" kits use blocks in the back, and 6" has new springs for the rear.

Why does even a 4X4 get to ride NICE and mine rides like a rock?

Yep. I actually feel more comfortable on long road trips in the CTD "from a safety standpoint." Comfy quiet vehicles are nice for short commutes. Actually they're nice, period. But I doubt I'll ever fall aslepp behind the CTD wheel.

Please chcek to see if your shackles are hitting the frame, this really makes the ride suck. Stock sagged springs will hit the frame in the rear.
The skyjacker 2" springs DID NOT level my truck. I had to add and addtional 2" RCC lift to level.
Ride with all new greasable poly bushings is great for a 1 ton.

Did the front Skyjackers today...The bump stop was about an inch from the factory springs and the fender well sat 37 5/8" from the ground. After installing the new SJ leafs I had a total of 5 1/2" between the bump stop and spring, and 42 1/4" from the ground to the fender well. I'm unable to use the Rancho 5000 shocks that I had with the factory springs. 22" from eye to eye on the shock mounts with the weight of the truck on the SJ's. Seems like a lot more than 2.5 inches of lift, even from the original factory height 14 years ago. Rides bit higher in the front(not level) Does this sound about right? Anyone else with other results? Thanks
