removing window tinting
removing window tinting
the PO applied window tinting to the back, which I don't like because at night I see the brake lights of the car in FRONT of me in my rearview mirror
how hard is it to remove the window tinting film? I was planning to use a hair dryer to soften it up...

get a glass scraper, and get the "goof off" stuff thats in a spray can, just scrape/peel most of it off and then spray goof off on it and keep scraping. I think they make stuff thats supposed to take tint off but i've never used it.
What he said, use a razor blade scraper, just wet the area you are working on with glass cleaner and it will keep the glue from sticking back to the window. use the trigger pump window cleaner, not the spray can kind.

If you want the extra work, but want it REALLY clean yes. I have done this to apply window tint, makes it a lot easier when your working on a horizontal surface vs. the vertical. I am a fan of mirror tint, it just reflects light back at people behind you and its only about 2-5% darker on the inside with no glare.

Smoke while working for best results....
Ive always peeled the tint off by hand, usually comes off in a sheet. Then like said, spray liberally with windex and scrap with razor. Glue will turn into huge messy stringy blobs. Final rubdown with alcohol makes for a squeeky clean window.

Is it a sliding window or solid?
If sliding then don't remove it, you won't gain anything by removing it. The best thing to use is a straight stainless steel razor blade with handle and a spray bottle with plain water and a little bit of dish soap or Johnsons baby shampoo. Peel the tint off, hopefully it will come off in 1 sheet and with all the layers. If it does (and most likely will) you will only have the glue. Spray the glue with said mixture and then press firmly and scrape the glue off. When scrapping use long single strokes. Don't move back and forth rapidly cause it will dull the blade and possibly scratch the window.
If it is solid window then it will only do you good to remove the window if the tint is down inside the rubber seal but most likely is not. Let me know if you have any questions, I have 12 years of window tinting experience

That's only for back windows with defroster lines, not back sliding windows or solid back windows unless there is defroster lines in it and I'm pretty sure these trucks didn't come with rear defrost as an available option.
By the way sortie, you never specified what window it was or what vehicle, I was assuming it was your truck.
