removing radio

Was going to replace the radio tonight but was unable to get the pannel off from around the guages/radio. I found the four screws along the top and the one above the radio, but the pannel still didn't want to come lose.

Whats the trick?

After you get all the screws out of the dash panel, there are two clips, one on either side of the steering column. They just pop out, but you have to pull pretty hard. They can't be seen from the front.

Did you pull the maplight? If you don't the panel won't come off in one piece.
Also pulling the shroud off the column makes things much easier, it's 2 or 3 screws on the bottom then it unsnaps.

Didn't pull the maplight, should probably do that.

I noticed the torx headed screws on the column, looks like it just splits in half?

Thanks!

Need to be able to listen to my CDs

Yeah, the column cover snaps together, just squeeze it in the middle and it will pretty much fall apart. The maplight was your problem, it'll come out fine now.

There are a total of 7 screw that need to come out. A lot of people forget about the one directly over the radio. Then therre are all the clips along th bottomw that can still make it kind of tough to pull off. Removing the steering column covers definitley makes it an easier job.
