Remote/Bypass Oil filter...?

Hi all! I'm busy stealing parts from my cancelled project car in order to go nuts on my Cummins. Is that a good idea? Around here that's like asking a serial chainsaw killer if he'd like some free 2 stroke oil and a couple gallons of gas....

So I had bought a Derale 13005 remote auto trans filter adapter and was wondering if I could use this as some kind of bypass/remote engine oil filter? Not sure what spin-on cartridge it uses but I imagine I can use the specified tranny filter for motor oil, too. If it will work: any ideas where I can tap into an oil gallery on a Cummins 3.9L 4BT? Thanks!

Most people tap off the spare port on the stock filter mount. Here's a link to the thread where I posted pics on how I did mine:

(Sc)amsoil sells spin-on bypass cartridges you can use. They are expensive. I think alot of theirs are the same thread as the stock CTD filter, but that mount you got probably is not.

Not sure if it's the same on that motor, but on mine, if you look on top of the oil filter, there is a plug that can be removed & you can take a feed from there.

Thanks, guys, that should get me going in the right direction!! This Derale filter block uses a 3/4" threaded fitting so I'll have to check what's available. I can either go finer micron to extra clean or same micron to further clean at same porosity. If I find something out I'll let y'all know.... thanks again
