Reg cab to crew cab

I’ve tried searching but haven’t had much luck. What I’d like to know is if anyone has stretched a Reg cab frame and installed a crew. Any info or links to other threads would be appreciated

It seems most of the 91.5-93 trucks have the 8" channel frame. This would be a better one to stretch than the older, more common 6" channel frame.

You'd want to split the frame under the cab in the low section and add about 34" IIRC. Add doubler plates over your butt-welds for strength.

The thing is, once you find a cab donor, it's probably sitting on a frame you could buy too.

thanks for for the info, I have found a truck but it is a 70’s model so the frame will be smaller and I think I would sooner stretch the frame than switch the 4wd and I’d like to keep the 8’ box

I'm not sure the size of channel used in the short/crew frame... but my '75 long/crew frame is a 7".
