reflective rear window

my rear window reflects everything from the road ahead and that pretty much makes the rear view mirror useless at night, its so bad i can drive without looking out the front window, just using the mirror, is there anyway to fix this problem, it really sucks when you got to open the rear window when its chilly out.

You guys think you have it bad?

Mine has DARK limo tint on ALL the glass! It's like a disco show at night!

While I like the sun dampening effect during the summer/daylight, I'm despising the "hall of lights" at night...

I'm wondering might you be able to scuff it LIGHTLY with some very fine steel wool on the inside surface to knock some smoothness off and stop the reflecting? 'Course you'd need the very finest grade I'd think, and do a small test patch down in a corner or something to see if this crazy idea might even help. Sure wouldn't want to obstruct the clarity much! Can't think of anything other than some sort of spray to dull the surface? Dunno, that's a good one!! I was thinking of installing some light tint myself, so I'll watch this to see a possible remedy...good luck and let us know.

I run limo all the way around. Sometimes I freak out when I catch a glimpse of my stereo lights reflecting off the tint into the mirror.
I hate to see red and blue in my rear view.

I've had pretty dark tint in a regular cab, and except for the mirror reflection, I had no problem with overall seeing at night. Current truck doesnt have a rear view mirror, so it isnt an issue. It is nice in the hot summer. I have the 15% on the rear side windows and back glass.

Wink Old Trucker's Trick

Install a couple of red marker lights down low, on the kick-panels or under the dash.

Turn them on and the glare will magically disappear.

Mne does the same thing, with a double layer of 15% on the back plus my headache rack...It reflects during the day even, and completely useless at night.

whats a rear view mirror? My truck did not have one when I got it. It looks like one was never there. Honestally with no cap the side views see everything but the smallest import closer than in tow. With the cap the rear view would be just about usless due to the tint on the cap windows front and back. I'm not sure if trucks need them or not. Now I might need to put in a mirror to see how reflective the rear window is. I hear bronze wool works good for cleaning stuff off glass.

Actually, I have driven trucks with no back glass for so long that I never look in a rear-view mirror, even if it shows what is behind.

I always use the side mirrors and have little use for anything that isn't a real mirror; none of that "things are not where they look like they are" stuff for me.

none of my windows are tinted, they are clear, i hate the reflection, i cant see that well at nite first off and this just makes it even worse, especially now that my A/C is fixed and i dont want to open the rear window, lol, i would put red lights in the cab but i wear glasses and that would be worse than the rear window.
