I'm in the process, I found a kit on ebay. I'm waiting for it to show up. That stupid snap ring at the exhaust side of the turbine was all sooted up and was causing it to not spin very free. So I figured why not go through the whole thing, those maybe words I will eat soon?

Will do. I'm not in that big of a hurry either. My head is at the shop getting a port job. I pulled the nv4500 to go through it, again! Now the wife is wanting me to fix up the few body problems. I think the diff is gonna get a detroit before it's all said and done. Just time and money right?

Anyone got a source on these. Mine is in, and will only make 20psi with the wastegate wired shut. Intercooler is good and new boost tubes/boots. Makes more of a screeching sound than a spooling... I don't like the sound of it at all. Might be that air is escaping from that small solenoid into the intake section (there is a small hole drilled), but I doubt I would be loosing THAT much boost... maybe the sound is there though.

It does make 5 or 6 psi on flat ground at 50mph, so IDK... maybe the sloppy sloppy 518 isn't loading up enough along with a bad lift pump. Smoke is down however even when punching the throttle, smoke clears up much quicker.

Well the kit I orderd off Ebay never showed up, they guy wouldn't return any emails or nothing. Ebay gave me my money back after a few weeks. I'm activly looking for a kit, but haven't found one yet. I just threw my 351 on and I'm gonna try to run it like that. I'll tell you if I hear the noise and boost levels. Should be done midmorning sunday.

I priced a compressor wheel from HTT for this turbo, they wanted $140, iirc. I guess it uses the same wheel as a 7 blade HX40? Or is it the Super HX40?

From what i've read on other threads the wheel "looks the same" but the part number and actual measurements are different.

As for mine, when wired shut i snap my boost gauge in less than a second, if i mash it. With the current spring configuration the waste gate opens at 2-10, 28-30 psi and it hauls WAY faster than the stock turbo could ever make my engine twist.

The Part number for the rebuild kit should be 4031484 and its about $120 i decided to soak mine in a parts washer for a week and everything seemed to free up and i haven't had any problems with it, aside from the usual ones i rant about from time to time.
