pulsating headlights

We are having a problem with our headlights on our 01 turbo diesel ram truck. They seem to be pulsating. The power being sent to them seems to be inconsistant which causes them to dim and then return to normal brightness after a few seconds. Please help is you have experienced this.

They all dim/brighten when you 1st start it up. Till the batteries charge back up. If it is always doing this check your alternator and batteries.

If they pulse even after the motor is up to operating temperature and the pulse is fairly fast, there is a good chance that the regulator in the alternator is the culprit.

I see now that I posted in the wrong place. Sorry. Thank you to those who made suggestions on what the problem might be. We now have an idea on where to start. Thanks again.

My 2000 was doing the exact same thing. I thought it might be the voltage regulator in the alternator. So i changed it and the lights still pulsated all the time. even the blower motor in the A/C would do it too. So i cleaned every ground cable I could find. But still no good. I was about to give up and just live with it. Then I noticed while standing in front of it one day that on the left side of the motor up high attached to the fire wall are two very large wiring harness connections. they were pretty dirty looking and I always avoid them when i am washing the motor off. I took both connections loose and cleaned them with contact cleaner then reconnedcted them. since then the lights have quit flickering and the truck seems to run better too. might give it a try, worked for me.

TY.
