not what you were thinking probably, but I can't figure out why my truck is pulling so bad to the pass. side when I brake. I jacked it up and both wheels acted similar in terms of drag and freewheeling. I replaced the driver's caliper and bled it out good, and now it pulls worse to the pass side. I assumed the lines to that side were good since I was able to bleed it. I'm picking up hoses and a pass. side caliper after work.
oh ya, the truck drives straight (as a 4wd with AT tires can) down the road when the brakes aren't on.

Sometimes a good pull can be from the REAR brakes no working properly too. I noticed that after one of my adjusters siezed and the drivers brakes were loose. Try manually adjusting the rear brakes and see if that helps out. Also look for signs of an axle or brake fluid leak.

I'd say your on the right track, those rubber brake hoses will deteriorate on the inside and colapse or restrict and the symptom is normally pulling to one side or the other. Good luck.

I had the same problem untill a few months ago. I chased it and chased it untill I could chase it no more and gave up. I gave it a complete brake job, I mean every thing all the way down to the spring kits. It cost some cash but it doesn't pull any more and my stopping distance went way down. I do believe that the pulling was a result of the rear wheel cylinders, adjusters were shot on the the pass. side though.

These trucks use a single piston caliper,,, that is the main problem, which is made worse by the poorly functioning "self adjusters" on the rears.
You will find that you'll have to re-lube the front slides about twice a year, and also re-adjust the rear brakes about as often... it seems to be the solution for my problem of pulling...
bob.

well, I put a caliper on the pass side last night, it got no better.
I didn't put the hoses on that I had ordered. Both calipers bleed out just fine, could the hoses still be a problem?
I set my rear brakes about every 5000mi, my self adjusters are long gone

Check your front spring brackets. The left side front bracket on my 89 W350 was loose enough for some of the rivets holding it on to have fallen out and the entire axle could shift back on the left side when I braked hard. I replaced the rotors, pads, hoses, calipers, rear wheel cylinders, shoes and drums before I discovered the cause of the problem. Good luck
I had a chevy with a bad hose on the right front -- fluid flowed out to the caliper just fine, so it bled like a champ, but it was erratic flowing back . . . replaced the caliper twice before doing the hose.
So, I would try replacing the line on the passenger's side.

couldn't get the line off without some heat, but now it appears I may have at least a bad tie rod end, so you may be on the right track AMT. Tomorrow night I'm taking it over to a friends so we can get it in the air and check it out.
well, the tie rod ends were about to fall apart :P
Looks like they were original, and that the truck may have never been aligned
It took us several hours and repeated red hot torchings to back the ends out of the bar. The truck is a lot better now, but it still feels like something has slop in it. Baby steps, but at least we know it's not the brakes at this point!
