Pull Cable Shutoff

I was looking in the sticky about changing to pull cable shutoff.

My pump has the solenoid screwed into the pump.

What is the linkage shown in this picture?

Top linkage in the pic is throttle linkage and the bottom one is the kill switch with a fancy shiny piece bolted on.

Yes, The linkage with the shiny piece attached is the shutoff. My pump has the solenoid screwed directly into the pump. What is this linkage off?

Yeah the fuel shutoff solenoid is screwed in on them all just like in the picture if you look close. Looks just like my pump the linkage is all stock other than the shiny piece they added to the existing manual shut off lever. So not sure what you really are asking I guess.

OK, I see that mine has the linkage. How can I make mine so it can only be shutoff with the cable? In other words, what do I do to make mine run with no electricity? Can I unscrew the solenoid, take the plunger out, and plug the solenoid hole?

Yep. Take the rubber piece and spring out. Then just use the cable.

Runaway is when the engine is getting another source of fuel. examples would be if your turbo blew a seal and started dumping engine oil in the intake. The engine would continue to run at an uncontrolled speed until no more oil...
Another source could be flamable vapors (gasoline spilled at the intake)

Only way to stop a runaway is to close off the intake (starve it of air) or provide enough mechanical resistance to stall the engine...

I have read that they also runaway when the smoke screw (i think) has been turned in to far. Would this stop that?

When the main fuel screw is turned to far it can runnaway
some ic pumps will not runnaway even with a bottomed fuel screw.
The way to stop it is stop air they tell u to put a board in front of the turbo to starve it out.

They will runaway if the full power screw is in to far. The pull cable will not stop that either.
