PS intercooler install
got my intercooler installed and went on a fairly long hard pulling trip. I probably gained a little more muscle in the hills with possibly a little only slite drop in egt and engine heat. is it possible I will need to knock my injection pump and timing back a little? I still have to watch my pyro pretty close as well as engine temp. also put in new rad. im not complaining but would like to do better.

including load and trailer about 11,000 pounds. grades I dont know except I went though the mountians so pretty good grades. I couldn't push it to the limit. had to back off in direct , temps went to 210 and higher with heater running. exhaust I only let go to 1200or a little under. as I say I had to back off a little. trans was good with the extra deep pan and trans cooler I added up front got to 140 150 max.

I just did about the same, or more GCVW going to PG, and I have a PS intercooler as well. I ran a few of the smaller hills in 5th, and only saw a tad over 900* and was running about 16-18lbs boost. Shifting to 4th my EGT's dropped to about 800* and boost went up to about 20+-ish.
I'm running pretty mild mods....stock timing with a M&H timing spacer, 14cm exhaust housing, ratty old OEM 3" exhaust, fuel pin turned to the deep side, and the fuel screw turned one full turn in. Still running stock injectors with 286K Km's on them.

with my mods, including the PS intercooler, i pulled 16,500 GCVW through the mountains in n. georgia, tennessee, kentucky, and arkansas. there was nothing i could do to get my pyro over 1100*. it was 85*F in N. Ga and I could hold the pedal to the floor up a grade with that load and it would not go over 1100*. here is a video of me pulling a grade in arkansas. 72 mph, 2000 rpm, 20-22 psi boost, 800* pyro. sorry for the poor image orientation.

what size exhaust housing are you running? what rpm/boost numbers are you running when pulling these hills? where is your timing at now?

i am running stock exhaust housing with stock down pipe then 4 inch back. I am going to install boost gage as I don't have one now. don't know rpm no tack but was running in direct. after I install gage will take it to a shop and get timing checked I know timing is diffinately bumped .

so took a little run today with boost gage. running empty on not a big hill with foot in all the way pinned the gage at 30 witch is all the gage goes to until I ran out of hiway or backed off. so don't really know what boost mite be in total. truck has 40 hp injectors with timing bumped fuel turned up etc.
