Power Door Lock Problem
Recently my 93' Ram has decided to lock people out and in on the passenger side. I have the power door lock setup. Occasionally in the last several months, I go to unlock the passenger side by pressing the power button on the drivers side door panel. The passenger side door lock pops up, still my wife is locked out. I press it numerous times to lock and unlock..........nothing! The passenger side door is still locked! I walk around the pickup and manually insert the key into the door lock, again it moves the door lock **** up.........but the door is still locked shut! This problem is no longer occasional, it now happens all the time.
So.........if a passenger wants to get in or out, you have to climb over the console and driver's side bucket seat. Is this a common issue on 1st gens with the power door lock option? I'm frustrated about the situation and want to fix it fast.

Open up the door and replace the little plastic rod retaining clips on the lock actuator. They are probly getting a bit sloppy and not unlocking the latch all the way. There is a thread in the sticky (link to Ramcharger central)about cleaning the door latches and whatnot that would probly be helpful. It's not too bad of a job to overhaul the linkage and latchs.

Got the same problem on my 93, it also does it with the key, sometimes will pop but not always. Wonder why it screws up on the passenger side but not the drivers side, I'd think it would be the other way around.

Probly slop at the latch itself. The rods/ linkage all meet there and control the operation of the lock/latch and what not. The plastic retainers are the same regardless of which end of the rod they are on. Actually I believe there are 2 different retainers. Right handed ands left handed. Not a bad idea to have a handfull of both on hand when tackling a latch problem. They work on the tail gate as well.
