Possibly running on the dyno this Saturday...

I'm a dyno virgin. I'm told that I won't be able to operate my own truck. That being the case, I plan on having a good talk with the dyno operators. What sort of questions should I ask and what should I look out for as far as red flags? I assume I could at least sit in the passenger seat to keep an eye on gauges if the operator doesn't/can't for whatever reason. If I see something I don't like and yell for him to back out, I'd like to think he would do so.

I'm told it's a loaded dyno. I also need to find out if they can accommodate a dually.

that sucks they won't let you drive it. Just tell them put the hammer all the way down when they put the load on have them let off when it starts gettin hot or you think its at its peak hp. I'm guessin you'll be around 260ish hp.

I'm not too concerned with EGTs really as it will only be 2 short runs. I'm mostly concerned about boost cuz with the wastegate disconnected, I've seen 35psi in 5th and I wasn't quite at WOT. I've only got 2 turns on the fuel screw so if she puts down 250hp at least, I'll be surprised. I wanted to guess low so that I would be surprised if it's anything higher.

I wouldn't worry about boost, I think you'll be fine. I hit 42 lbs when i was on the dyno, it was a loaded dyno at 20% load when i did it, if they can turn up the load then tell them to turn it up to at least 40%. Yeah with only two turns on the screw you probably are only around 250. Basically just have them hammer down for a while and hope for the best.

I'm probably just worrying about it too much. I've heard of so many guys running over 40psi for only a few seconds. Maybe it's just pure luck but after replacing the headgasket just last August, I'd sure hate to do it again. Although, I could probably do it within a day after doing it once already. Just don't want the expense of it and the downtime from my daily driver. As I've heard a lot, "you gotta pay to play."

Just found out it's not a loaded type. What other kind could it be since it's mobile, maybe an inertia type?

Thanks John! I'm looking forward to it. I'm not expecting very high numbers. Just eager to see what it's got.
