POS Trans
POS Trans
Okay, so my auto has been giving me anger.
When I initially start my truck in the morning (4:45AM) before work I'll let it warm up, but when I leave soon after I'll pull away and between EVERY freaking gear it will do a long slip then shift into the next gear. And when it's like below 30* it will wanna hold 2nd gear out for ever. When I slow down for a turn it'll down shift and then shift out of 2nd fine, but still wanna do a "popping out of gear kinda thing" between each gear. After driving for like 5 miles though the trans will act perfectly fine. It's a reman trans, but I can't fine the model number. It's a 3 speed with overdrive. I'm about to beat the crap out of it so it does die so I can put in a manual. Any ideas? Torque converter, fluid? It has the factory option of the trans cooler back by the driver side dually and the guy before me put in another one on the cross member next to the t-case. It's almost like the trans looses pressure to move untill I get on the throttle a little then it'll jump back into the next gear. Whatever help I can get is appriciated

Sounds kinda like how mine acts after it has been sitting awhile, and the TQ drains..
When you warm it up, try leaving it in N instead of P and see if it makes a difference.. It usually doesnt take 5min to fill back up, but maybe the cold is compounding the issue ?

Yeah I did that and it still does the same thing

The pause between shifts is a lack of fluid line pressure. That could be caused by either dirty fluid and filter or your accumulator piston is sticking. If its the piston sticking it could be a broken spring which is a cheap fix, or the pin itself is broke. You want to get it fixed as soon as possible though because without proper line pressure the clutches will be very slow to engage and slipping the clutches will wear tham out pretty quick.
