ported 12cm/wastegated

Recently I turned my fuel up till it started hangin, then back a bit.

Since then, Ive been having air problems.
So i figured I would share my results.

hx35w was WAY overspooling with the wastegate open, even with a hole through the separator.

I ended up pulling the turbo, and grinding about 1 1/2 of the divider out, and giving it a knife edge, along with cleaning up the rest of the ports. There are pics similar to what I did elsewhere on the forum, if needed I will upload mine.

Anyways, spools up later in the rpms. Whoever did it before said they didnt notice a difference in spoolup. This isnt a mod for a lightly fueled engine.
My EGT's are 50-100 degrees cooler idling, and at a light cruise. The colder the truck, the cooler the egts. (350 before cold idle, now 250) I would say on average 50* drop.

I also made the wastegate hole bigger, but still not enough. Its at 7/8"s right now. Boost controller seems like its at about 28psi or so, and when my foots to the floor it still creeps. I gotta do some measuring on the wastegate flapper to see how far I can drill the hole without going too far.

All in all, boost isnt maxing out my 35psi gauge instantly any more. Looks like is hitting about 38psi.

Long live my turbo

1st genners are pros at making the stock turbos scream! Most of the time well past their designed parameters.

Also if you wanna lower boost a little bit more, add some power, and add reliability to your turbo you could do a GDS upgrade compressor to the hx.

I was planning on doing that, but the price of the dollar right now, and duty and shipping im better off getting a turbo more suited to what I want.

Im gonna shoe-horn a ps i/c in there in the next little bit. Seem to be a little easier to come by around here than the 2nd gen.
