POD's and Turbo Combo

I've just about got enough corn hid from the wife to order my Pod's and a turbo. Was leaning toward the PDR HX-40 but am a little hesatant feeling that the -40 is way too much eaven with the injectors and pump mods. Would their HX-35 be more realistic. If it dosn't show up 1992 5.9 3/4 ton 4 wd 5speed. As far as I know there has been no motor work done...yet thanks Jethrro

Forgot to mention that the truck is my daily driver and is used to mainly tow. Not really looking go after any 1/4 mile records with it just something respectable.

If you are towing heavy, I would go with the HX40. If you use the HX40 you will need to modify your exhaust. The 40 has a full 4" exhaust flange, The 35 has the same as your stock H1C. Someone correct me if Im wrong.
I installed a "Hytech Turbo" out of Salt Lake City. They take a stock H1C and machine out the compressor side (fresh air side) and install HX40 turbine wheel.
With a 16 CM exhaust housing I can get 44 PSI boost in the winter. It cost around $685, 2 years ago.
I have 2- 1992 CTDs, I am considering an HX40 for my higher HP truck and taking the Hytech turbo and moving it to my every day driver. I was quoted over $1000 for an HX40 from Piers. Im guessing the 40 will give cooler EGTs with the bigger exhaust but dont know for sure.
Good luck and tell us what you do and how it turns out.

Absolutely pass on the 35 and spend the extra cash on the hx40.. Why spend the money twice on the 35 then a 40 later?? Many folks will steer you towards the 35. Just plan ahead. If I were to do it again, I'd go 40 all the way. Yes you will need a 4" exhaust. But when you buy from PDR you get the 4" downpipe and clamp with the turbo, then all you'd need to do is source the 4" the rest of the way back.

Ok I see you said its used mainly to tow.. Hmm then maybe the 35 will suit you better. I thought you were a HP junkie like most of us .. just give it time!

Why not just go with the $200 Stage III 60mm compressor and 18.5cm exhaust. That would be alot cheaper and work good for towing.

How big is the compressor on the 40 anyway? It couldnt flow much better if any than the big 60mm.

Good question, what the difference between a htt stage 3 h1c or 35 and a hx40 is? I know you get a true 4" downpipe with the 40, and a wastegated 16cm turbine housing.

The HX-40 will give better exhaust flow because the turbine is bigger. I'd look at the HTB2 from HTT as well, it's more robust and can run at 45 psi indefinitely.

With P.O.D.'s you will be able to spool a '40 or an HTB2. Tell the vendor you use what you expect the truck to do and they will help steer you in the right direction.
