BIG, I quit recommending injectors because of all the personal attacks I received from the go fast crowd. All I will say is the best injector for these trucks is the stock one. You can have them opened up a little for more power, but the 6 holes is best.

I run stock injectors in all my 1st gen 12Vs.
I can get plenty of fuel for my "normal human" needs I have for my truck, with just pump tuning.
They are the bigger stock NON I/Ced '89-'91.0 injectors though.

DDP is no longer a top shelf company. They typically use a 155* 370 injector tips and modify them from there.

There a few good companies out there to buy quality injectors for a decent price. Top line ones would be Scheid and Infinite Performance but you will pay for them.

Good quality without breaking the bank: The Hungry Diesel, Contagious Diesel, and Ducky Fuel injection. DDP would be in here but not something I recommend.

Lowest price and lowest quality: Pensacola Diesel, Diesel Auto Power, Ebay injectors.

There are few higher priced, big name, pages of ad space bought in magazine companies who have mediocre quality and high priced.

6 hole for economy or medium power. You will be hard pressed to find bigger injectors in a 6 hole.

Hey,all, thanks for the injector 101 course. Who sells an oem injector these days that is reputable, and are Bosch injectors? Just curious if I were to go back to stock again

Find a local shop then. Look up fuel injection services. Also, ask Case equipment dealers as they may be able to point you in the right direction.

I strongly disagree with Diesel Auto Power being low quality. Everything I've bought from them has been top notch. The Hungry Diesel I wouldn't buy from if they where the only ones left on the planet to get parts from.

I know who makes DAP and THD injectors. Same company FWIW. Just they are spec'd differently.

So I called DAP and gave them my scenario with the POD haze and my new driving style of commuting in the Bay Area and blah blah blah. What he reccomendeded were 5 x 12 VCO with a 145* spray angle. Should net me an additional 40hp over stock, but no haze. Price of $375 for a set. What do you all think/suggest? More injector 101 questions. With my current mods to my truck(see sig) at what level of injector HP will I start idling with a haze? 80? 60? The gent at DAP said the 40 HP ones will not haze, but still give me the power my PODs gave

well with proper tuning, you shouldn't have a haze. as previously mentioned the 6 holes are going to run cleaner. the VCO is going to run cleaner than a SAC as well. I've read and read until my eyes bled on injector tech but I still take the advice of those who have tried almost everything in these VE pump motors. IMO, Eric from the hungry diesel is probably the best guy to talk to about 1st gen VE performance stuff, especially injectors. either a 5x12vco or 6x10vco would be good. THD runs with Bosch as well, gotta love that!

. Are those 5x12 the VCO's or the SAC's? I, too have been reading and it seems like the 5x12's are the cut off for no haze with an additional 50 hp over stock. I've also read about guys jumping to the 5x14's in the VCO injector and they say it burns clean. That jump to a 14 is a 80hp over stock increase. Now I gotta ask, when people say they burn clean, are they talking about toodling around town, cause my POD injectors don't smoke at all unless 1. I punch it, at low RPM's, or 2. When I come to a stop and idle at 725 rpm. It'll haze for days, and clear up SLIGHTLY if I pop it in neutral to raise the rpm to 875/900. That is what I'm tired off, and if an 80 hp VOC injector is idling w/o haze, then to me that truly is running clean

don't get too hung up on these make believe HP ratings that companies put on injectors.

. Totally understand what companies do to boost sales, w/ the HP numbers being called out. I have learned that HP #'s are over rated, but I also understand there has to be something given above a baseline, for comparison reasons. I used to approach hp numbers for what they were stating. Now I look at it as more smoke for me. I have come to another realization(besides owning a Harley- another story about how I'll never own one) that I'll never put compounds in my truck for more air. So fuel mileage and engine longetivity is what I'm after now. But a little increase in power thru the injectors would be nice. Just want clean power

. Thank you, then. I will recheck my pump settings and tweak them some more in hopes of cleaning the idle haze, but in the meantime save up for the DAP VOC 5x12's.
