please help no brake lights

please help no brake lights

My truks previous owner hacked it to pieces. My hedlight switch plug is gone only spade connecctors to hook it up but my question is would tht affect my brake lights I have normal funtion on everything but my brkelights does anyone know how to hard wire them so they will work what wire to connect if they eevenn are affected by the hedlight switch at all. Any help would be greatly apppreciated thanks in advance.

Brake lights don't go through the headlight switch. They are on their own fuse and switch. Look for a bad fuse at the panel under the steering column. The switch is attached to the brake pedal and is fairly easy to get at and test.

If the PO had a trailer brake controller, check the wires to the controller. I went without brake lights for almost a year and finally found a bad wire splice in the steering column where someone tied in the controller.

It could be the brake light switch/ brake pedal stop needs adjusted.
