hello everyone i need help big time. my truck is a 1991 it came from the factory with a 3 speed trans i guess but someone swapped in a 518. now here is the problem i got it rebuilt and put back in but it feels like its slipping and the power band is very gradual. when i take off its like there is no pickup at all is this a tuning issuse or is it the trans. i know the tranny is brand new just rebuilt weeks ago no miles on it. I've been trying to fix this forever now idk what to do. im starting to think maybe the way the pump is tuned it smokes a ton off the line with no throttle response. also does the 518 need a pcm or computer to run it or can i just hook a switch to the od wires and if so how does one hook said switch up sorry this post is long i just need help and i am out of options













Nope it was awful destroyed a tranny and and just felt sluggish all around boost peaks at like 12-20 it made more boost before when the trans was destroying itself. now it doesnt seem to make any power and it blows soot not just smoke but you can tell its i guess really really rich to use gasser terms. im not experienced in diesel so im not even sure what screws to fool with on the pump i think it might be time to take it to a diesel shop. in which case if anyone from maryland reads this how do yall feel about wilson tire and alignment i here good things about brian and his diesel work let me know what you guys think.
If its a ats unit im sure its real low stall converter. Do you have anymore info on the truck like size of injectors,turbo what pump tweaks ? sorry no pics of linkage not much for photos.

If the pump was turned up it'd be making more boost then that. It's either slipping becuase the TV linkage adjustment is lettting the trans slip, or it's leaving in 2nd gear....or the converter is so tight it's not letting the turbo spool?
Or the converter is so loose it's not letting the engine load up?
you have NO idea what converter they put in it? That's like the most important thing to know.
