(Pics) Where the fuel pin isn't delivering more fuel.

That's what I'm interested in. Trying to minimize low end smoke as much as I can. Especially living here in Commiefornia. Looking at my fuel pin or cone, I'm reaching the deepest part of it. I haven't touched my smoke screw and my starwheel is up about 4 turns from the stock position to increase the spring tension but I now believe that all that did was make it even easier for the spring to fully compress. Easier as in, less than 10psi. I replaced the nylon washer/spacer under the diaphragm in favor of an o-ring that fits snug around the shaft of the fuel pin to achieve full travel. If I let the clutch out in 3rd and push the pedal to the floor, it pours coal! I know that's lugging it but I don't do it often. Just when I need to get my revenge on ignorant drivers .

It's interesting if the spring is fully compressed at 10 psi. It almost defeats the purpose of the AFC if you ask me.

I don't know about you guys, but I can remember when my truck was bone stock, it didn't haze at all. I haven't messed with mine barely at all. It doesn't take much to get it smoking. Point is, a 10psi spring was plenty when the truck was stock. Seems to me that pushing 40psi or whatever, chances are pretty good a stiffer spring will help.

I run a boost-fooler feeding the AFC on my mess. I've got it set up for a .5/1 ratio. 20psig in, 10psig out, 30psig in, 15psig out, etc. That combined with having the Star-Wheel turned up pretty stiff along with the smoke-screw backed all the way out in a machined cover.

Thomas with M&H cut me a custom fuel pin that pretty-much mimics the factory ramp profile, but with the added depth. As such, the AFC doesn't come on so strong with low boost.

With that, it's still touchy controlling smoke. Got to roll into it with no jabbing the throttle.

Am I understanding this correctly Justin? The pin inside the pump does not come in contact with the deepest part of the DennyT fuel pin, correct? If so, why not make a pin with a steeper angle cut into it?

Yeah exactly... It doesnt actually touch the deep part of the denny t.

What do you mean by steeper angle? I could see doing a pin that only ends up with 1/4" of material at the 23/32" point.. if you can imagine that.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. You would have to change the angle of cut to do that.

Your pin should travel more than that. Just a SWAG, but check the diaphragm for a pin hole or leak around the threaded end.

the pin travels up and down, i know for sure... i have my pump apart right now and i made the marks by moving the fuel cone up and down and the lever/pin by hand... the diaphragm isnt part of the equation. maybe ill tape a video of how i have done this.

Here's the pic of my pump top... i know for sure that the fuel cone has full travel up and down in the pump.

Why is your pump top chewed up like that? It looks strange.

So in other words all aftermarket fuel cones are a total waste of money?
