Performance Question

Ok now i have seen on here alot of you guys have the 366 springs and the 3/16 timming but i have no idea what that is and if my truck will handle it. i also am looking into the Denny T pin. Also i would like to find a good web site that has 1st gen Performance parts. and i need more ideas on what to do to it.

Thanks,
Eric

The 366 spring will allow the truck to fuel to 3200 RPM instead of the stock 2800 or so RPM. A mod well worth doing.

Bumping the timing 1/8" will help with fuel mileage, gain you a little power on the top end, and supposedly drop EGT's, but there is a little debate about that...

The DennyT pin is a very good mod, and is the best pin on the market, no doubt about it.

Good luck finding a good website with 1st Gen parts, if you find one tell me. Most companies forgot that Dodge made a diesel before '94 so aftermarket 1st Gen parts are a pain in the rear to find. Forums like these help though.

Yes your pump will handle these mods. It will feel like a completely different truck. I would suggest getting a 4" exhaust if you don't already.

You'll probably have to upgrade your trans if you do too much to it. I don't think the stock auto's like too much more than stock power levels.

Dave Goerend claims that a stock tranny, with just one of his converters will hold over 300rwhp. The stock converter will do a real good job of converting that power to heat though.

Gauges--Pyrometer & Boost to start with. Pyro for sure. Just about all tuning will affect the egt. in one way or another. Don't need to melt a hole in a piston, probably won't but stranger things have happened.

yeah i know most of the basic things like gauges and trans but i just want to know how much more safe HP my stock trans will hold. i don't want to put much money into this truck cause i still have alot to do to my 3rd gen. if i did the pin, timming, and maybe turbo housing from HTT do yall think my trans will hold? i don't want it to feul to 3200 because i don't want to do anything to the head. unless i can do it and not have to do anything to the head. the spring goes on the pump right.

also what does my truck have for pumps trans and turbo.

I'm sure that probably is true. I forgot how much heat the stock converters will build

Oh ya and if your wanting to do a compressor upgrade i would get the GDS kit.
$225 vs $400 for basically the same thing.

The 366 spring won't do any harm to your truck. No head work required, you just install it in the VE, and you are good to go. A lot more usable power.

With the pin, housing, spring and timing, the tranny will hold just fine. The stock converters are awful, and I recommend getting rid of it as soon as possible, but the tranny will hold nonetheless.

Part Number GDS CH-05. If you plan on leaving the truck close to stock (which by the 1st post, those mods are considered close to stock) than the comp. wheel upgrade will be fine.

VE is the name of the injection pump. I believe Jim Lane did a little research, and found out it stands for something in German, nut I'm not exactly sure what it is... Anyways, we just say VE, and by that we mean the injection pump.

as far as brand, I think they are all a bosch product? the # painted on the spring is 366, it's the part number. So long as it has that I wouldn't worry about who made it or where it came from specifically.

As for where to get it. eBay, Pier's Diesel research or your local bosch dealer might have em too. just buy the cheapest one you can find.
