I hate to be the first (honest) ***** of the bunch but... that thing is ugly as hell.

Now that I got that out of the way, it does have a certain "Mad-Max-indestructable-charm", but not $2200 worth. Not trying to offend, but you did ask...

I do like the Toyota!

lovemysan, lol, you don't have to worry about it most people said i was crazy when i wanted to do it. to tell the truth though people that have seen it in person usually say with much surprise "it actually looks pretty good" and these are people that would tell me to my face (as they did before they saw it) that it woild look horrible. the guy who shot it got a little crazy with the texturing on the bumps and so it looks more rippled that just splashed on but i'm not too worried about it. the bumper is ugly anyways, if i had a little more time before hand i was going to cut some V's out of the back of the channel and heat the front to make it wrap around the front a little more neat. then weld it back together where the v's were. oh well, i still may do that at some point.

fear, i am actually going to go with 33's

Chrisreyn, my friend recommended the oxidized red for the rims, is that what you were thinking? also i have the black fender trim, i was thinking of looking for chrome ones or possibly finding a way to color the black ones? it was a real pain to find the diamond plate bed rails but i am glad i was able to, that helps a lot when you see it in person but i agree i'd like to see some more chrome or something!

Underpsi, when you figure out what "it" is let me know. i will more than likely go with a lift, eagle alloys 058, and 35's in the future, but that's not set in stone.

ouchman, i appreciate the honesty, needless to say even if it did change how i felt i'd be stuck with it now anyways but let me ask, is it just the texturing on the black that you think looks bad or the way the additional cab is done? the was not something that i was super excited about the way it looked, but with all the room and what i got the truck for it's something i am willing to get used to. oh, and if i know the bumper is ugly, but it was $30 at the junkyard already mounted to a 1st gen gasser, and the guy didn't charge extra to spray it so it's not a big loss if i decide i don't like it and take it back off.

Dude that thing looks SWEET, it looks real mean and like a good work truck. IMO I think it would look even better with a flatbed on it and some stacks and the badges back on it and maybe some mouldings and fender flares too, but still looks mean as hell the way it is.

I think it's the bumpy texture that I don't like. That's why I do like the Toyota. As I mentioned, there is a certain charm to the "I dare you to run into me" look. But I prefer the "satin" retro black look. Plus, if I was going to go for that look, I would get about 50 spray cans of the Duplicolor bedliner and do it myself, on the cheap.

Hope you won't hold my honesty against me...

kc8ksg, actually that may be what makes it look off, i was considering putting the badges back on.

ouchman, i may be biased because i used to work there, but IMO the duplicolor is crap in comparison to the Rhino. i agree it is more cost effective, but really don't think it would stand the test of time.

I think red wheels with some chrome lug nuts and some "thin" trim rings would give it the old school hot rod/rat rod look and would tie the grill back into the truck. its a tried and true aproach with the flat black hot rods.

I do think that the texturing was a bit too much, at least for the whole truck. If i "were" to do it I would have the heavy texture on the lower half for about a 12 inches and have the upper have more suede like.

I THINK IT LOOKS COOL, I doo think a custom flat bed , the new style cummins embums on the front fender, a 6" lift, some black rockcrawler rims with the fake bead lock bolts all the way around and some BF Goodrich M/T s
would make it look better. Oh ya, and mabye a runnel ( I dont know how to spell!) front bumper, and a winch!!!. Who did the cab strech. Did they strech the frame as well or put a crew cab frame under it. I want to strech the cab on mine , I do think the back windows are to small on yours though..but cool none the less. Its nice to see somthing different.

i have no clue who did the stretch, it was supposed to have been done professionally when the truck was new. and they did stretch the frame. if i do lift it i will probably only go 4inch and i plan to get a winch, but on a reciever hitch so i can put it front or back.

I think it will look much better on big tires and black wheels. I also think you should paint the grill and mirrors with flat black.

It looks better than I thought it would, at least in the shady pic. In the sun it looks all blotchy like it has a skin disease.

That is a LOT of work. Glad to know I am not the only one who will dump effort into something that everyone else thinks isn't worth it . . .

I think that it would look better without the stock bed. I am not sure about the badges. They don't go with the "Mad Max" motif IMHO.

Did I miss the thread where you were talking about stretching the frame??
