Overdrive Question

Hi
This is my first post. I just got my 93 extra cab 4x4 and Im stoked.
I have a question on when and how to use the push button overdrive. ( Came with out a manual) The guy I bought it from said to turn off the overdrive at speeds below 40 mph. It seems to do fine starting from a dead stop with the overdrive on, and the overdrive kicks on around 40mph.
Any advice appricated.
Thanks

The overdrive lockout is rarely needed. Like you said, it shifts in around 40 under light acceleration, so it doesn't matter weather the button was in or out---it still started in first gear from a stop---hence the term, automatic Where the button is handy is pulling a grade--loaded or not. If you want to maintain a speed w/out mashing the go pedal, simply hit the o/d lockout and the extra RPM's will carry you over the hill.
Hope this helps! Oh yeah, welcome to DTR! Now get some pics of that new truck in your gallery!

Welcome to the DTR. please fill out your signiture, so we know what you have.

G1625S is right, don't bother with the button unless going over a grade and want the extra rpm's, OR you need to accelerate quickly onto hyway. I have a 3200rpm govener spring and I can go to 75mph with out overdrive and get better acceleration.
