our new rig

picked up this 90 D250 le 5spd cummins local with 35k original miles on it. solid as a rock except for 1 pinhole in the roof.....been sitting for 7 years withs a bad clutch for some reason. it vibrates like crazy in neutral idling and wont disengage. also makes a horrid screaching sound. the crazy guy that owned it said it "kept knockin' da clutch out it got so much powa"

we played heck getting it. 5 years ago a current friend of ours that worked with the owner a long time ago (at chrysler) tried buying it and the guy wanted 10,000 for it and it was in just as bad of shape and hadn't moved since 02, this was in 05 when our buddy asked about it....keep in mind the guy was fired from chrysler because he was mentally crazy....oh and he bought it new in 89

now a week ago we knocked on the door and the guy game to the door with no arm and said blah blah couldnt drive it no more clutch went bad ,had to buy an automatic now i can't drive at all lost license. blah blah.

turns out he didn't have the title or keys his sister has them because she basicly runs his life because he's so "crazy" as he calls himself and physically ill......so she sold it to us cheap and SHE knows her stuff, like legit she knew the clutch was a sachs and made in germany. that's incredible. probably early 60's or so well educated person i could tell, had all the technical books and everything for this truck.....the glovebox is locked and key won't go in i'm sure theres good stuff in there too!! i need to get it open

anyway so i put on new fuel filter filled with diesel kleen, and sucked the fuel tank dry using a electric pump and the fuel line under the hood, 5 gals of fresh diesel and it lights right up!! has that factory high idle cable thing too...

here's pics below..... and i have a video of the first start with the new filter and fuel...i'll post later....the truck did start and barely run on the old filter and fuel but we didn't run it long like maybe a couple seconds.

plans are now to put a new sachs in it, and drop it off at a local bodyman/shop to get restored ...
