only runs when floored
only runs when floored
hi guys got a big problem first off i got a 91 dodge diesel and decided to try and turn up the pump first problem after turning up pump was had no power started up idled fine but had no power so read about the little pin thing that rides on the slope of fuel pin gets stuck amd it was stuck so i took the throttle bracket apart to get to bolt to free up that pin well got it all back together now it wont start unless floored if i let off the pedal it dies and when its floored its at idle speeds idk what to do at this point if anybody can help i greatly aprreiciate tganks
You need to take the throttle bracket back off and re index it on the throttle shaft that sticks out of the pump top. I can't think of which way it needs to go right now, but do it so that when in the new position it acts like you are pressing on the accelerator. Go one spline at a time until it's right.
ya i finally figured that out been workin on it for the lasr hour but finally got it goin. had to re adjust everything its been a pain in the butt but ive learned how everything works now. still doesnt quit feel the same as before but it drivin so im satisfied with that for now

The VE pump is really simple once you understand how it works.
A word of caution when working on you pump, especially linkages and the governor.
Always have a way to snuff out your engine in the event of a runaway.
It can turn your engine into a pile of scrapmetal instantly.
