Well, here it goes. I am rebuilding a 1965 Dodge d200 and I want to build a vehicle that will tow anything I hook up to.
I got the truck for free. It has an oold gas engine in it. I also got an Isuzu straight 6 turbo diesel out of an old ambulance. The engine has low and easy hrs on it. I also got a 4 sp manual tranny out of a 2 ton flat bed and a 2 sp rear end out of the same flat bed. i figure if i hook them all together i should be able to pull a house down.
Now my question; the only thing I'm worried about is getting the diesel to run, how should I get it to run? Pull the old wiring harness and dissect it or how does that work?

the isuzu is a 6bd1 and the ambulance had an interesting life the father in law put the diesel in it to haul kids at the church however never finished the inside of the ambulance but got the motor running and working fine.

You have any idea what engine and year it is? I have access to many many old manuals.

 

i dont know what yr the engine is i just know that the engine is a 6bd1 straight 6 isuzu

 

That number sounds familiar, we have a couple Isuzu diesel power units, the one I looked over I think is a 6.7L.

 

There is an old dude in my shop, I'll talk to him tomorrow about it and see what he says, also set him on task to see if we have a manual for said engine. I'll post back what I can find out.

Only downfall should be bellhousing and how to interface. There are a couple of good dudes on there from overseas with good knowledge.
