i wish i kept that truck, i could have bought a new radiator and engine for it and i'd still be driving it today. After about 3-5 minutes the thing would just loose power and shut off because of the problems. (no coolant or oil) long story attached to y

 

They really aren't that underpowered, tom's truck runs great once it's on top of the awful gearing.

 

Mine was a single barrel they, it got great fuel. Mileage but no power down low...90 some hp, n like 112 #ft my olds 4cylinder made more.

But they leaning tower of power would outflow the ford and chebby 6 cylinders of the time (60s) n Chrysler never approved any of the updated styles of the motor except for a few new head designs. N better ignition.

The coolest of the prototypes was the turbo style gasser, which was multipart fuel injected. Another one that never made it past the dyno was the turbo diesel version of the motor.

But in all reality if I were to get this I would definitely get the 4bbl intake for it, the dual quad intake is super rare n hard to find but with a cam and some minor headwork they can turn out nearly 400hp at 5200 rpm redline.

Oh n the truck motors had a wider timing chain than the cars and a higher flow rate oil pump.
