Effortless towing of any not quite insane load through the Rocky mountains. Well, maybe not "effortless." Let's say "only moderately effort-ful."

TOP goal: TOM, show winner, 10 second dragster, highest HP VE (and tow its own trailer to the track!) hahaha Gail Banks!

Next Year: Paint and body work for shows, 400+HP all motor and single turbo.

Cool goal: Develop a super single 16" & 19.5" dually wheel & tire.

Realistic-

Be able to have my Wife and two kids fit facing forward with 2nd gen seats in front and chevy ext. cab seats in back (thinnest ones I've found)

Get the cancer under control

And get this thing to stop... Without shaking the fillings out of my teeth

Dream-

300-350hp w/ W/M
Paint w/ shaker hood
Lowered about 2" in front (for that raked look)
Lake pipes that spew soot on command
And get this thing to stop... Without shaking the fillings out of my teeth

And to drive to Alaska & back w/ camper in tow with my Wife when I retire.

Thats all, not much
Michael

To get my egt's down below melt down temps WITHOUT reducing horsepower, or going broke, I must have 300 hp to the ground. minimum. Then 350, then 400 then.....................you get the picture.

My goal is to have a reliable, sharp looking truck that stops and steers well and that has a front seat that does not feel like I am sitting a a hole.

Install PSC steering box.
Install new pitman arm and drag link.
Install new tie-rod ends.
Intall new rotors, calipers, pads, brake lines and bearings on front axle.
Install new drums, shoes, cylinders, brake hardware and bearings in rear axle.
Install new rear springs with 2" lift and related hardware.
Install new front seat and carpet.
Install Isspro tach.
Install BHAF w/Smokey mount.
Buy some Alcoa wheels and some 265/85R 16 tires

Thumbs up Horsepower with Economy

Everything Chrisreyn said at 20 mpg and still have a conversation in the cab without having to shout.

I'm gettin' there. Those 3.73 gears gave me 16 mpg around town. Haven't taken them out on the highway yet.
I put the locker in the rear axle last night.

New paint, for sure. Has one of the worst paint jobs I've seen, bar none. Minimal rust, though, go figure.

I want 300-350hp/ 800-900tq, useable, leaning to the towing side, with minimal smoke and still get 22-24mpg hwy at ~68mph. Smooth riding while doing so (ditch the steel wheels, for sure). I already have the D80 and pump upgrades, just need to get the rest of it up to par- turbo, clutch, maybe a manifold, finish 4" exhaust (install muffler), etc, etc. Put new synchros in Getrag, along with fixing the slack in the shift tower.

For the interior, I'll keep my captain's chairs, add some more soundproofing, get new weather stripping when it gets paint, upgrade the stereo a little, maybe tint door windows about half what the rears are- make it so I can see out them at night, anyway.

i would like mine to have a nice smoke show, im doing it all on a shoestring budget, so the 5 inch exhaust will be flex pipe all the way back to a stack under the truck, everything for 5 inch exhaust for 125 bucks. i talked to performance diesel and/or/used to be piers diesel today, and i pretty much have everything in line for the truck.

Talking

I want to be the first to build a working twin ve pump setup. Not that it would be easier than a p-pump conversion but just so I can say that it is VE powered. Also I'd like to get a new cab with a floor that isn't cracking and to make work easier, a flatbed in decent shape that I can put a dump kit under. Some 19.5 commercial singles to take the weight would also be added.

Goal for now is to get the compounds up and running. Then maybe some studs, O ringing, and maybe bigger injectors.

Down the road plans: I want to put an 8.3 cummins in the truck with two HUGE turbos and a huge manual tranny and outpull every brand new truck on grades in a piece of junk first gen.
