oil pan leaks ?

a few weeks ago i asked you guys about my truck "dog-legging" and bouncing when i put the brakes on.yall hit the nail on the head, the pin going thru the leaf springs was sheared.i got it all back together yesterday,i really appreciate the info. when i had the rear end elevated while working on the springs i noticed oil dripping up front, didnt think too much of it.i checked up under the front today after getting home from work and discovered about 3 or 4 good drips.it seems to be the oil pan gasket. i am looking for any needed advice before i change it-thanks

If it's not in your budget or time schedule at the moment to replace the gasket, you could always try snugging up any of the bolts that are accessible. Sometimes that will get you by for a little while longer. They're only 8mm bolts so they may only take 20ft lbs at the most. I always snug small bolts like those with a 1/4" drive ratchet.

budget and time-my 2 enemies,if it holds up i will get into it this weekend. i just gave it a quick look before it got dark and other than a few hard to get to bolts it looks pretty straight forward.i was just checking to see if there were any "unseen aggravations"

Even with a 4x4, you're gonna have to lift the motor a ways in order for the pan to clear the transmission and drop far enough to get passed the suction tube of the sump. There's an article in "The Sticky" that covers just this task and it's a 4x4 as well.
