I would just find an auto 205 to put back into it. A chevy uses a differeny input shaft, 32 spline if I am not mistaken. The auto np205 in your truck has a 23 spline.

You shot the transfer case and the front driveshaft fell out?

Give us more information as to what's going on so we can better help. Perhaps you can repair what you've got.

The nut on the front internal shaft broke off and worked it's self out and now its just laying there on the skid plate and oil dripping everwhere. I took it to the trans shop and he said it would need a new shaft and the t case took apart and put back together to repair it. I though it was the lock out's cause it would go in and out. Bought new ones old ones had not been engaging and the ends were ground off so now thats set. I just need rebuild this one he is going to give me price tommrow I know it will be more then a used one but im thinking it might be better than used one too. What do you guys think ?

theres a bucnch of variety for input shafts, try car-part.com with your truck info, year-model, look for salvage yards anywhere in the country, you should be able to locate a reasonable used case, the front output is pricey, there are used parts to be had, if you want more resources

An auto NP205 should be easy to find.

I'm betting member "Mark Nixon" has a couple He'd sell since he parts these things out all the time.

What would cause the shaft to snap off in a NP205?

What factors could or would cause something like this to happen?

Excessive truck beating ?
Insane amounts of torque/ HP ?
Overzealous snow plowing ?
Lack of maintenance / gear oil level checks ?
Worn out parts?

Not criticizing anyone in any way. I just curious and trying to understand how something like this happens or could be caused to happen.

Thanks

They start out around $250 used on car_part.com. Zbag also on there lists a rebuild at $600. Doesn't the 23 spline gasser 3/4T version with a Dana 60F also use the same setup in the same year?
