Now THAT'S a sweet Dodge Cummins!

Spotted this on ebay:

'47 Dodge

Is that the bee's knees or what?
Don't like the repo dash and modern steering wheel, but otherwise, that thing is da bomb!

Looks like they lifted the CTD up to about 10 feet...greased the sides and dropped it in there. Tight fit! Look up front where the fan is..looks wierd and I can't see that fan being the original deal

That's a sweet ride. Hope my 38 corn binder turns out as nice. I'm still trying to decide on which motor to put in it. My available options are chev 350, chrys 318, baby hemi, or IH 7.3 IDI.

The IH rattler would be nice, all in the family!
Have you considered a 4BT, it might well fit. They're quite a bit shorter than the 6BT (duh! about 2 cylinders worth!) but just as tall, and that can be a problem. I wanted to put one of those in my LandCruiser, but no room for the oil pan without doing a spring over.

I don't have a 4bt but I have the others. My funds are limited right now so I will probably stay with what I already own. The 4bt would probably be a better option though. I'm still a month or two away from mounting a motor in it so maybe I'll run accross one. Thanks for your opinion. I have to do the finish welds on the frame and body mount brackets and clean it up and paint it. Then get the under side of the cab done then put a motor in it and hang the sheet metal on it. This truck is a local truck and is 99% rust free and completely solid. Only surface rust to contend with. I'm not much of a body man.

7.3L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the older international motors. :-) 2nd behind the cummins of course :-)

I'm contemplating a twin turbo deal for my 6.9L,,,think I might have to take out the passenger side of the dash to fit it lol.

That looks very good!! I'd love to do a swap like that. I'd want 4 wheel drive, though.

As for 4bt swaps -- you cannot ignore the vibration problems of a 4 cylinder direct injection diesel engine. A little 4 cylinder diesel can shred a vehicle over a couple of years due to the vibration. 6's and v-8s are much, much, smoother. 4's are also harder on the drive-train for a given output, because the power pulses are relatively higher.

Just a little opinion based on past experience.

I hear you in regard to 4 banger vibes, at certain speeds the 3.4L Toyo diesel in my LandCruiser will rattle the fillings out of your teeth. I think that there is a practical limit to how large you can go with an inline 4 before vibration really becomes a problem. What was the last car built with a 4 cyl. of over 3 liters displacement? But still, with the homebuilt turbo setup it is a wonderfully compact, light (200# less then the gasser it replaced), economical, and powerfull prime mover.
I'd still love to try a 4BT in the right project.
