remove the bleed screw and pump the lever on the side of the lift pump. see if you can get fuel to come out!!

Do u mean u have fuel up to the pump, an none in the injector lines?? Or a full tank an none to the filter? If theres none in the injectors lines check your fuel shut off and the wire ends pluging in to it Could be stuck shut. If theres none to the filter sounds like the lift pump. Let us know how it turns out.

Sounds to me like the wire came off of the shut off solenoid also.

This, and running out of fuel, are the only reasons I have ever seen a 1st gen just die. Being it was probably accompanied by the bump while backing out of the drive, I suspect your wire either came off or shorted to something else. The plug that is mounted to the wire is pretty crappy. You might want to take a pair of needle nose and crimp it closed just a little.
