not diesel but wow i think its a winner.
i remember 1978 well a good family friend wanted to sell me his perfect 1969 hugger orange 302 z28 camaro for 4500 bucks to buy the last 440 4x4 dodge pickup . i told him he was to high and passed. there goes 50k. couple years later i bought my current 69ss. you guys make me feel bad that i didn't get a engine photo and other details. did the factory paint scheme ever follow that line on the cab ?.
today i loaded out some hay to a customer that had the same splits in the paint on his mid eighties dodge gasser. i guess i was looking at the divide behind the pass. door.
Besides, you didn't get crazy at all, I didn't see anything wrong...don't be so critical of yourself eh? But it's good you can keep yourself in check unlike lots of others on lots of other sites!! It's been said before here and it's true that this bunch sure seems to maintain their cool!! Thanks man, have a good one!!
the dodge
I know that truck. It was a full resto in 2000. It has a 440 and the most of the body was an 86. It was a father son project. And the son drove it, when he could pay for the gas. I spent 2 hours witht the guy when I fist saw it in 2001. I lived in bend, Or. before I joined the navy. one new adition in the roll bar. and the window sticker. but its an awsome mopar!

I knew it. It had to have a 440. The earlier high compression HPs put out 375hp and 480ft.lb. torque. Nothing to sneeze at, even by our standards. I've got one in a '71 New Yorker and it ain't no slouch.

thanks for the input 90dodge i figured any fan of rigs would remember seeing that ride! i am headed back to farm this weekend in central oregon to finish repair on swather. i am at terrebonne about 25 mile north of bend. my brothers and my farm.
I eat, sleep, and breath Mopar engines.
I can spout deck height, rod length, bore/stroke for just about any Mopar engine.
Better yet, I can tell you how to make it haul butt and make the power it's capable of.
I'm currently looking at building a small block 427 Mopar based on an R3 block and W9 heads. 13:1 compression, healthy cam- and pump gas! It should deliver about 700hp with no more than 7K rpm.
Then you drop that sucker in a lightened A-body with the tubular K member conversion and go off and run low 10s all day on street tires!
Fun, eh?
HOHN, I want a ride when you are done with that cop chaser. The early 1970 440 I have in my '77 is plenty strong and fast, lots done to the bottom end and an Edelbrock kit with later open chamber heads. I have been kicking around the idea of changing the cam, heads, and intake, adding a set of Dana 60's with 4.11's and trying my hand at sled tugging.......
Stroke that 440 and you'd have a sledplulling beast! The mopar or eagle 4.15" stroke crank is a good choice, but you can build a BBC mongrel using a longer 4.25 stroke crank and Chev rods with the wider MOpar big end. Manley and Eagle both make rods like this.
If you're going to stroke a Mopar with a factory block, invest in a main cap girdle, since the caps tend to walk badly at high HP levels. Chenoweth Racing has a good one, so does Mancini Racing. You'll need a line bore, and might as well do billet caps like the Pro-Gram ones.
I looked at shoehorning a big-block into the A-body, and I'm still considering it. I'm also considering the R3 small block with custom FAST fuel injection and twin turbos
I can't let those GM LS guys have ALL the fun, now can I?
There's no reason you can build a 1000hp daily driver mopar that will idle decent and be ungodly fast (9s or better).
It just takes a lot of cubic dollars

A buddy of mine has a plymouth trailduster with a factory 440. Its the biggest turd in the world UNLESS its tromped. It wont idle, cruise or anything else that doesnt involve your big toe in the carb. Its a perfect candidate for a blower, I think it has about a 5 to 1 ratio right now. It has torn through two sets of motor mounts and two radiators, at times the manifolds were the only things holding it in the frame AND ITS STOCK!!

i was on a rant
about year and VIN so-to-speek
hows this
what does the fifth digit in the vin of a 71 super bee represent if it were (H)
and the fifth digit in the vin of a 69 charger (G)
what were the years for the 350 mopar
what is the stroke on the fire dome 331
how many viariations of the leaning tower of power were there cubic inches and years produced
