Well, I talked with Imler, and with the duties of running a business and commitment to people competing in the upcoming 2007 Diesel Power Challenge(yeah, he works on some of these rigs, too, and he just flew out to Utah today for the DPC meet) he won't be able to assist us at this time or anywhere in the close future. I stop by at his shop probably once a week and I gotta say, he is a very busy (swamped with work, at least 2 months to book a service job w/ him!) guy.

Someone mentioned Collins Lake, which is an awsome campsite with trout fishing (big!), water skiing, canoeing, etc. Best of all, if we decided to camp, they have large lots for rent which is made to hold at least 10 trailers (private lots). Another idea would be a campsite by the Sacramento river somewhere, like I mentioned earlier, by the Delta. Things to consider: If we will be doing mods at all like KDP's, injectors, etc. I feel that a one dayer would tend to rush things. An over nighter would give us time to relax and plan the next one. Hey, if I can lure you guys, I'll bring up some of that elk meat if that will convince a camp out!
The responses so far to this point have been good. Finding a location 1st should be our focus, and then a date that guarantees all will show will finalize it from there. Feel free to PM your ideas, guys.

Camping would be cool also. I'm down for a day thing or overnight.

The only time I'm leaving is the weekend of August 18th (third weekend).

Everyone, let's keep this tread up in the front page...this'll mean checkin' in every so often to see if anything concrete is set as far as dates. If possible, like some here have already done, throw a few available dates for each of you, that way it will be easier to track and that way we can agree on a date that will work for us Nor Caler's.

Collins Lake idea sounds interesting, and it is not all that far up in the hills.

Just Checking in!

I am about 5 or 6 miles from Collins Lake. I have a small shop building with air and basic tools, welders, drill press, etc. Quite a bit of room for parking if people want to do a bit of wrench work. I'm not any help with the first gen motors though.

SOLD on Collins lake! Just kiddin'. Collins has all the fishing you want, and good trout fishing I might add. Let's target sometime in August. guys, like Papecat, start throwing in your dates available in your replies and I'll set up a tracking system and come up w/ a date that will work for all, then I'll try and post directions coming from all areas. Anyone like Elk meat? Elk Liverwurst?

This sounds like a great idea to me. The only time in August that I have available is the last weekend. Aug 30-Sept 2.

If there are going to be any KDP's going on, I'll fab some stainless tabs at my job and bring those along.

Come to think about it, guys, along with your schedules, toss in an idea or two of what types of mods we would like to accomplish, that way we all know what types of tools to bring and NAPA/Cummins parts and such.

Collins lake sounds good. Everyone else ok with that? I can make pretty much any weekend in August.

I'll bring my TIG so we can make some more compound turbos . How much wrenching did you guys actually want to do?

Twins from scratch in a weekend would be a bit much. Although my set may look like it was done in a hurry.

Yeah. Mine have taken me a few months, but factor in school, work, etc and it takes awhile.
