TRANS QUESTION plus my newest CTD project
well yesterday i picked up a donor truck 92 ex cab auto 4x4 the guy told me that the trans was boned ok i said, drove ~3 hours to get it payed him the instant i shut it off and he left, ok... so i fired it up put it in reverse backed it out of its spot manuvered my rig in front with my tow bar assembly hooked it up put it in Nuteral then Nuteral on the T-case crawled under and SPUN the rear drive shaft like there was no ring and pinion there... SWEET... awesome... went to the front and the hubs were locked ...thats how it moved
duhhh on my part
got home and drove it around the block fine in 4H parked it decided where it was gunna stay fired it up and no forwardiee only backiee backiee SHOOT

so can anyone tell me what the major malfunction is in the trans
ps this is the future mud truck CTD and trans and t-case
i was thinkin on taking a loan out for an ATS trans and a suncoast converter send them the "cores" and put the new stuff in the tow / daily driver and take that one for use in the mud truck
here is the mudder project powered by a BB Mopar now but not for long

If it moved in 4wd what makes you think there is a problem with the trans. To me it sounds like it may be a rear issue. What I mean is if the trans works enough to pull it around in 4wd and not in 2wd and you said that the drive shaft spun like it had no ring or pinion and with the wheels on the ground you should not be able to spin the shaft at all that is what makes me believe that is a rear problem. But thats just my opion.
