New Head

Well my cooling problem turned in to a head gasket in the matter of a couple of replies to my previous thread. Today I got my new head and started ripping the old one off. All went smooth until I got the head off and found that I forgot to unplug the Fuel Heater plug. Once the head was off I looked at the cylinder walls and with 356k I still see crosshatching. That just amazes me that these engines wear so uniform. With any luck I hope to have it back together tomorrow but I won't be able to run it until at least Tuesday, that's when the POD's are suppose to arrive.

I'm hoping that the bigger turbo will help with the heat. And I didn't think that the head was that bad but then agian I ate two and a half jumbo boxes of weaties .

Do yourself a favor and port that head!! it will make a huge difference in acceleration ... i did one one for a buddie of mine in a 89 his head was cracked badly.. he has a hx35/16 pod's and ground fuel pin . when we put the new head on it was like a new truck .. from a dead stop it will hit 35lbs and lite the tires in less than 3 seconds .. the old head took alot longer to build boost not enough air getting to the turbo to build boost ... egts are also alot lower before it would eaisely hit 1200 now you have to hold it wide open and it will slowly climb to about 1250 then its outa rpm
