New guy! skyjacker lift help please
howdy folks. i just purchased a 93 w250 becuase i was tired of my 92 d150 half ton. its an upgrade, but im gonna miss her. ive been looking at skyjacker lifts but cant decide on a 4 or 6 inch. i got a good deal on some 17x9 rims with 315 bfg ats so i want to clear those without rub. i know i can with a 4 but i also have a 200 pound replacement bumper with a 8000 pound winch. sucker weighs like 80 pounds! if i put that on with a 4 inch do you guys think my 35 would rub? or would i be better off weighing down a 6 incher and not have to worry about any rub and just worry about break lines and the front driveline which i guess binds on the 6 inch? is the 6 inch that much more complicated than the 4?any advice would help. ive never seen a lifted w250 in person before. most the ones where i live are owned by ranchers and kept stock. im way into this thing so you guys are pretty much my new family.
The sky jacker kit 4 inch with BFG 285/75/16 are a bit tight so i would say 6 inch

hey thanks. i heard that before and i did a little research. i think a costom shaft will cost me about 300 bucks or so. also whats the deal with the shims that mess up the caster. those work to help the shaft problem?

The shims they give you with the lift do help the driveline angle some, but they are about as steep of shims as you can use without running into caster probelms. I know after 2 years my 6" lift sagged and inch or more. Even with the 6" lift i can get the tires to rub if i flex it to the point where 2 tires are off the ground. Of course at that point the bed is getting crushed into the cab as well,

I've got 6" of lift and run 37" BFG's (worth noting cuz bfg's come up short of claimed height) on 17 x 8's. Works well for daily driving duties, but would get tight for serious wheeling. I'm also still using my stock front driveshaft, although I did clearance it at the cv when I changed u-joints. FWIW
I'm running an 8in gasser lift on mine and i like it but dont love it. Still rides excellent but it'l ALWAYS sag a bit on the drivers side, just a bit someone who doesnt know wont see it but i do and i know it's there and this is with no weight added to the front like your winch or bumper. Plus im not the only one that has gone through this, from my experience with this lift i think its good but if i could do it again i would haved saved up more money and got some custom springs made instead.
thanks for the advice guys. since the 4 and 6 inch lift cost about the same im really startin to lean towards the 6. i know ill have to get brake lines but how does the parking brake hold up for you guys with the 6's. I need that cause the ol girls a 5 speed.
If i do another one I will do a 6 inch like i said my tires have room but very little they rub on full steering wheel lock I do still have the surf boards on the side and a mud flap on too. one thing to i got the sway bar drop for the 6 inch , I didn't need it The ones i got will work great on the 6 inch lift , i do highway driving so i like the sway bar
my cables need to be replaced but more to the fact of the rust not height , I still have good travel on mine
