New Guy Kansas

Hello, My truck is a 91.5 Dodge, intercooled, K&N filter, straight pipe, fuel pin turned, high idle screw turned to 3200, automatic transmission rebuilt, 3.54 gears, star wheel turned, timing bumped, and a 16 cm housing. My big question is will it do any good to install any performance parts without installing a real torque convertor. When I pull a trailer I am grossing about 18,000 lbs and the old girl and loose 20mph and the RPM does not drop. I am so tired of this automatic I will never own another diesel truck with an automatic I do not care what brand it is but I have always had Dodges and I know that is all I will ever own. Cummins Rules!

your converter may not be holding the power you have now and many people say thats the first thing you should install with an auto. but i dont know that muck about autos so some other people will chime in soon...also if your going to be hanging around here your going to need some gauges lol. Welcome to dtr! ,ryan

I forgot to say the truck does have a boost gauge. When I put the 16cm housing on I tapped the exhaust manifold for a a pyrometer but I have not installed one because I have not got after the fuel screw due to it having stock injectors. When I had the transmission rebuilt I asked for a low stall converter 1200 max, stalled 1800 and I was MAD! I complained, they swaped conveters and I did the R&R. Same old story. Complained and was told tough cookies and was so mad I have not pursued another converter. Location Wichita. I forgot the truck has new custom paint.

the stock injectors can handle more fuel from the power screw.but the gains will not be as drastic compaired to bigger injectors. i would not be scared to turn it if i were you but i would hook the pyro up first.although it should not get too hot cause its a ic truck.

I'm from Hesston, KS. A local bought my 1st gen. Hated to see it go, but I couldn't tolerate the automatic! The way that your transmsion behaves reminds me how much of a pain it was to tow with. The hughes helped but it still wasn't anthing close to a decent towing setup.
