New Brakes

Just put new brakes, hardware kits, rotars, calipers, wheel cylinders, drums and adjusters in the beast and wow did it help in my braking performance . All the old stuff was stock with 200k on them and did not work so good. Word of warning watch out for your local parts stores got halfway into the project and found out that they gave me the cheap parts to lower the bid, so when I went back to get the good stuff like I wanted to do in the first place and I GOT SCREWED >. Needless to say the budget was blown off the face of the earth and that company lost one more customer. The only other problem is that I am still getting and error code 8 or 9 on my abs and can't find out why, the repair book said I might need a new "repalcement wiring harness". Got any bright ideas on what to do, hopefully cheap ?

Re:New Brakes

Sounds like you and I have had the same kind of evening. I just put new calipers, rotors, carbon metallic pads and a Borgeson shaft on this evening.

Steering is incredibly improved. Only problem is I think I broke my steering wheel lock. Not sure how but I think it happened. ???

Help da NEWBIE?
What are the symptoms that you need a Borgeson? BEst price? Part Number? Where to buy?

Re:New Brakes

standing at the rear of the truck facing the tailgate, look on the left hand frame rail just to the rear of the axel. There you will find the "abs box". On my truck, this is a source of a sinking pedal. I had a shop look at it once and it was all gummed up. This may be the source of your problems as well...

Re:New Brakes

Take apart, clean, and dialectric grease the plug into the rear axle sensor and the abs valve. Code 9 is a bad connection to the axle sensor if I remember correctly.

Re:New Brakes

Hey, we were all there once.
Basically, if you have really sloppy steering, the problem is possibly the coupler that Dodge used. I was under my truck one day with my 2 year old sitting in the cab. He was "driving". He was turning the wheel as far as it would go both ways with the key off. The coupler was, of course turning, but none of my front end components were moving. That was when I decided I needed one.

Get it direct form Borgeson. About $195. I also replaced the rag disk so my total delivered was $216 and change.

Insatll was real easy.

Re:New Brakes

HMM, just went out and checked. Someone has a different bolt (actually a machine screw) in the coupler by the box . AND! The frame is flexing when the wheel is turned!!!!!!

rag joint appears to be in good condition
