new 1st gen, a couple questions.
Hey guys, i just got my second 1st gen, its a 93 w350 4x4. anyway, its got around 300-350 horse, and the guy said the pump is all turned up, well i got to looking and the lock collar is still on the full power screw. How much more power will i get if i remove the lock collar and put the screw in a turn or 2? Also, what is the best way to remove the collar?
Second, should i run a diesel fuel additive for the new fuel?
Thanks.

First off, get it on a dyno, a reputable one at that, and then you'll know what HP it's putting to the ground. Then think about removing the lock collar. Keep in mind it's still got the stock turbo, so you're limited there in making HP.
What part of the country ? Yes add diesel fuel additive with each fill up, I do, it's cheap insurance. Put the ATF in the transmission where it belongs

You need to find out what injectors are in it. If they area stock than the guy lied about the 300-350 hp. The guy I bought mine from told me the truck was 300 horse...yeah right, the thing would barely break the tires loose on gravel. The pump was totally stock.
I dont know if it's always intentional though. I think that because of the way these engines run and make torque people give them credit for having more power than they really do. I don't run an additive but sometimes I think I should. Supposedly there are no lubricity issues with the new fuel. I guess the engineers added other lubricity agents to compensate, which makes sense. They wouldn't want lawsuits. However I might be concerned with seal conditioning and leaking in the IP. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that additives like power service will correct for that.
