Need help w/ converion, Any ideas how to make a fuel line with the stock clips
I need to make a fuel line for my fummins. Is there a place where you can get those factory fuel clips? The ford has metal lines so im trying to figure out how to do it. Any help would be appreciated
I changed out my lines to 5/16 rubber and put the lines straight on the old quick connect nipple on the lift pump with no problems at all. It was really tight getting it on but I put a clamp just to be safe. Might even accept 3/8, but a barbed fitting would be better. I think a brass 1/4 MIP to ____ hose fitting would screw right in. For the return you'd have to find a quick connect fitting or put a 1/4" hose and clamp. Fits as described above.
However, if you have to have quick connects, I found some on advance auto's website. Bring the part number with you, 'cause they'll give you googly eyes when you tell them what you're looking for. They have barbed ends, so you should be able to put a hose on them.

3/8, ??I think??, for the DRAW, 5/16 for the RETURN.
It is that way on a FORD, for certain, but not quite so sure on a DODGE.
It may be 5/16 DRAW, 1/4 RETURN on the DODGE.
Those quik-connect fuel connectors are compatible with plain old hose OF THE SAME SIZE as the original plastic line.
It is best to warm the old plastic line with a heat-gun to slide it off the connector-end.
Carefully slitting the plastic with a razor knife will also get it off.
If you are missing the little plastic keeper, but the fitting is otherwise still good, simply loop an appropriate size zip-tie through the slots where the little plastic keeper should have been, AFTER you put the fitting onto the tank's nipple.
The zip-tie resides behind the flange of the nipple and actually works better than the intended little keeper.
Many is the replacement plastic end that has been sold, when all that was needed was a plain old zip-tie.
The only reason the little keepers are made as they are is for quickness and convenience on the assembly-line.
