Need help good question about duallys
I have a buddy with a 2nd gen dually and i have a first gen dually and we were wondering if you could take the front hubs off of a first gen daully and put them on a second gen dually for the locking hubs instead of buying the kits. Thanks, Dominic
I believe you would have to use the whole rotor, hub, knuckle assembly, but the 1st gen uses king pins while the 2nd gen used ball joints. The reason the kits are so spendy is that you can't just use readily available stock parts. AFAIK
I think the best way to do that would be to use a complete 1st gen axle, cut all the brackets off the 2nd gen axle and weld them to the 1st gen axle. It's a lot of work but it is doable, I did one for a friends pulling truck.

There is a right up on how to convert the 2ND gens to have locking hubs on another forum and I cant remember which one or find it in my saved sites. Is was a girl from New Hampshire that had a 2500 and used the assembly from a 90's Ford front end. If I can find it I will post it to this thread.

That write up is on the pirate 4x4 board. It uses cheap Ford parts to do away with those wretched cartridge sealed wheel bearings on the 2nd gen trucks.
