Need body parts
Aloha everyone,
The truck in my sig was involved in a mishap at work about 2 weeks ago. A fellow tractor driver took a turn too sharp and pushed my rig back, about 6 feet, over a curb and into a fence. Took it in for an estimate and haven't heard from the body shop yet.
Was informed the shop owner was having a very hard time finding parts through his many sources. Is it THAT bad? He found an aftermarket grille with no DODGE emblem and supposedly is searching nationwide but can't find a left front fender. Last option is to get a used one from his wrecking yard sources in the states. It's a real pain to have to crawl in from the passenger's side because the driver's door is stuck closed. Anyone know of sources? Thanks for any input.

Matt, you might be better off trying a post in the wanted to buy in the classifieds. There's a few trucks being parted out there. But, is it that bad? Yeah, I'd say it probably is. What's the time period a manufacturer has to supply parts for a vehicle, 10 years is it? Some of ours are double that. Stands to reason that these trucks are going to go the way of muscle cars eventually. Mint ones will be worth huge $$$ to those who want to buy one. Seems kinda funny to think of a 1st gen at Barrett Jackson.
hey man, i got all new fenders and doors on my truck. got them through keystone. but no matter where you get them...keystone, rock auto what have you...all the aftermarket ones come from taiwain. if you do go aftermarket like i did be sure to inspect them, the doors i got were really wavy at the bottom. i shoulda sent them back and demanded better ones but i figured id put my body work skills to the test haha. if you want oem fenders p.m. tdimark. he has like the last oem fenders available. honestly tho there is nothing wrong with getting body panels from wrecking yards. just dont skip out on surface prep when it comes to body work. best of luck

A big thanks to all for that info you took the time to post. My spirits are somewhat uplifted from your replies.
For the record, my coworker hit ANOTHER truck today. This time, the tailgate and bumper of a 2009 Nissan.
I think it's time for him to retire from driving. I will pass all the info on to my body man and hope for the best. Much aloha to all my fellow diesel gear heads.
