Name this front end, and rear axle.

I just bought a 93 D-350, the PO swapped a rear axle into it from a 1-ton workvan. I need to know what it is so I can either swap a new one in or get a different gear set. I'm thinking it has gears in 4.56 range right now, it doesn't want to go much above 60, and at that speed it is screaming. Here are some pics of rear axle.

The front end was in it when when the PO bought it but I know its not stock. I need to figure out what it is so I can fix the steering. It has about 4 inches of slop in the steering wheel and wanders all over the road. Here are the pictures of it.

On the rear end, if its a dana, it should have numbers in these loactions to tell you what model it is at least. look where it says model number

Thanks, it sure looks just like the one in the diagram, I was thinking it was probably a 60, I will go check.

The front suspension looks stock to me. The sway bar end-links are a little different than mine though. Have you adjusted the steering box at all?

60 for sure but thought gearing was 5:10 for work duty 1980s type.

worn/bent drag link has a lot of sway, as above- steering box first.
frame looks good, no rust

I thought the 60s were only front diffs. I'd take a wild guess that it could be an 80 being out of a 1-ton regardless of truck or van. A quick way to check gearing would be to jack up the rear and count revolutions of the tire and pinion. It'll help to have a 2nd set of eyes to watch the pinion or vice versa so that you don't have to watch both at once. One tire revolution will equal x.xx revolutions of the pinion giving you the x.xx:1 ratio.

looks like a dana 70 to me but they did use 60hds in motor homes which where duallys but the tubes and center section was tiny compare to the 70s, as front the front it looks stock. and dodge used a lot of 4:56 gear ratios in the 1980s.

Well so far I have discovered the tag, it has 4.56 gears. Haven't found the model number or bill of materials. As far as the front end being stock... Cool! I didn't know any 1st gens came with that front end, also discovered that the steering shaft has a ton of play, time for a Borgeson! I will go back and resume my search now.

That will only work if both tires both spin together. With only one tire off the ground it is 2x(driveshaft rev/tire rev):1
cheers,
Douglas

Found the BOM, here it is.

Chry - 70 - Rear - 1978 CB300 & MB300 Motor Home - 1 Piece Case

Now the question is, what is needed to put 3.55's in there?

a 3.55 gear set and carrier. 4.10+ carrier is unique to 4.10's and up i think

4.10's and 3.55's use the same carrier.

Yep it's 4.56 and up, it goes good now, but I don't tow very often so I want 3.54's.
