My blinker blinks fast and then normal, why?

The past two days, I've noticed my blinkers will blink at a normal rate with an audible click, and then change to a rapid blink rate with any clicking noise.

I walked around the truck and it looked like all the lights were working. Once, I turned on my right blinker and steadily blinked fast, so I parked and got out to look for the bad bulb. I think the front lights were blinking at regular pace, only the rear light was blinking fast. But it was at night and really really cold out, so I may be mistaken.

Anyone have any idea's on what would cause this?
